The Ministry of the Mind Music was set up after the earthquakes to give the local musicians and music enthusiasts a central or ‘go to’ point.
Started by holding monthly Open Mic nights at the Rolleston Rugby Clubrooms and have now spread to the Lincoln Event Centre and the Famous Grouse Hotel
Since the inception we have put on over 200 Open Mic nights in the Selwyn District.
The Ministry of the Mind music has also ventured into Band management, currently managing a handful of local Selwyn District bands.
We also set up, book, promote and run local music events including being involved with SDC ‘Music on the Green’ series since its inception.
I now also have a small Recording studio in Rolleston and have been recording local bands.
This facility also doubles as a rehearsal space and each week we have four bands and several music lessons in it.
We carry a large range of sound equipment including multiple PA units ranging from large to small and lighting as well as a full suite of instruments of which we use for local events.
It is a one man band operation with a good support crew and a non-profit organisation, all proceeds have gone directly back into gear and promotion.
I am also currently in 3 bands and have a huge network of Selwyn District and Christchurch bands, venues, retailers and suppliers on hand.
My Motto is ‘Family First, Music Second.
Staunch advocate for the underdog, the person who loves music but doesn’t what to do with it or how to connect.
I love the Selwyn District and its diverse range of talent not only in the Music sphere but also in the wider artistic community.
